We welcome all of our children and families to the academic year 2021/2022. It is set to be a year of rebuilding, re-balancing and re-establishing all that makes St Paul's CE Primary such a special place.
We have started the academic year in a relatively normal way, since most Covid restrictions have been lifted. However, we are continuing with our lunchtime cleaning and we may have to apply stricter measures, as and when we have clusters of infection.
We have been amazed at the resilience of our children and how well they have bounced back from the lockdowns over the last two academic years. We will be using our catch-up funding and redirecting some school funding into activities that will reduce any gaps in learning or gaps in entitlement. We are keen to increase the provision for Arts and cultural activities, as these have been hard hit as they were difficult to deliver through remote education and closures.
We will continue to work hard so that academic standards in all areas, return to pre-pandemic levels and we will have a particular focus on Maths and Writing, this year.
We will also take care to strengthen the children's mental health and wellbeing. As well as our Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA) we also have a Mental Health Practitioner, starting in school. This is part of an NHS project linked with other local schools.
We are convinced that our excellent provision will enable all children to flourish again, after a difficult two years.
