Who are the Aztecs?
Curriculum Coverage:
In Maths we will be looking at place value within 1,000,000. In this unit we will look at what digits within a number represent as well as saying and writing numbers up to 1,000,000. There is a focus on areas such as powers of 10, rounding numbers and comparing them.
In English, our text is, ' Queen of the Falls'. This text is a true tale of a lady in the 1900s who conquered the Niagara Falls in a barrel! In this unit we are focussed on developing paragraphs, writing for an audience and securing the correct use of punctuation. On our learning journey, we will explore these aims through the use of letters, diary entries and recounts.
In Science, we are looking at Forces. This area of learning will concentrate on gravity, friction as well as air and water resistance. As a class, we will be taking part in many investigations and focussing on fair testing.
Within our Theme lessons, we are exploring the Ancient Civilisation of the Aztecs. This will take us into the World of Gods, festivals, sacrifices and how they created one of the greatest cities of that time.
RE sees us looking at Muslims in Britain and deepening our understanding of the Islamic religion and of those who are part of it. We will be looking at the 5 Pillars of Islam and what they mean to the Muslim community.
