What happened during the Great Fire of London, and what did we learn from the events? (History)
What is London like today, and how does it compare to the London of 1666? (History/Geography)
In Maths, we will initially be looking at multiplication and division. Within this area of maths, we will be looking at making equal groups; dividing by 2, 5 and 10; using bar models for grouping and sharing; solving word problems, and identifying odd and even numbers. Next, we will be learning how to make and interpret tally charts, pictograms and block diagrams. Finally, we will be measuring, comparing and ordering lengths in centimetres and metres.
In English, our text is, 'The Dragon Machine'. This text takes the form of a fictional adventure story. Within our English lessons, we will be exploring the features of adventure stories whilst using phrases from the story’s language. We will create and describe characters and settings; try to use the past tense consistently and correctly; write in the 3rd person and use different forms of sentences (statements, questions, exclamations and commands). Finally, we will write our own adventure story, sequencing the events with a beginning, a middle and an end.
In Science, we will be learning how and why we use different materials based on their properties.
In RE we will be looking at what we can learn from sacred books, including the parables in the Christian Bible, and the respect that is shown for both the Jewish Torah and the Islamic Qur’an.
