In Maths, we will be continuing with our ‘Decimals and Percentages’ topic. This is where we practice converting between fractions, decimals and percentages and become better acquainted with tenths, hundredths and thousandths. With this knowledge we will then tackle adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing decimals.
In English, our text is, 'The Paperbag Prince’. This text is written by the author Colin Thompson. In this unit, we will be exploring persuasive writing with also the intention to inform. This book links wonderfully with our class social action which is to upcycle single use plastics.
Within our English lessons, we will be further developing our confidence in using parenthesis, using cohesive devices, formal language and using modal verbs.
In Science, we will be getting back into Biology and exploring the natural world. The focus of this topic is classification of animals and plants. We will be looking at everything from bacteria to Elephant and from moss to a mighty oak and how we can ask informed questions to be able to group them correctly.
Within our Geography lessons, we are keeping the theme of nature and focussing on mainly physical geography. We are exploring mountains and mountain ranges of the world and how they are formed. We also take a look at topography and how climate changes the closer you get to the summit.
In RE, we are looking at Hinduism. It is wonderful to revisit a topic area looked at in KS1 with KS2 eyes and develop our understanding further. We will be looking at what is important to Hindus and how they feel a good life should be lead. Gandhi will be looked at as an inspiration to Hindus and how he showed a good example of their values.
