Summer 1

Theme Learning Question:

Who was found under the Leicester car park?

Curriculum Coverage:

In Maths, we will be venturing into the world of Geometry. We will be working with protractors to find angles and recapping our knowledge of angle types. Further to this, we will be looking at position and direction.

In English, our class text will be “The Paperbag Prince” by Colin Thompson. This text has brilliant illustrations and a wonderful message.  This is a great text to support our persuasive writing unit. We will be looking at devices we can use and recapping previous grammar objectives.

In Science, we are focussing on being independent scientists and working scientifically. This means that children will be provided with a range of big questions and provided resources to investigate them. We will be looking at fair testing, repeating results for accuracy and hypothesising outcomes.

Within our History, this half-term we will be looking at an area of local history. We will be exploring Richard III and the roles he played whilst he was King of England as well as what actually happened during the War of the Roses. Due to the locality of this unit, we will also be visiting Bosworth Battlefield to further secure our understanding of this piece of British history.

RE sees us continuing to look at Christianity but with a focus on “what would Jesus do?” and explore generosity and prayer within the bible. This is a continuation from last half-term.
