Spring 2

Theme Learning Question:

Where does Britain fit into the World?

Curriculum Coverage:

In Maths we will be continuing with our fractions topic. We will be deepening our understanding of fractions by solving fraction problems requiring addition, subtraction and multiplication. We will use previous learning to be able to find common denominators and also to help us to find the simplest fractions.

In English, our text is, 'The Darkest Dark’. This text is a book written by a well-known astronaut, Chris Hadfield.  In this unit we will exploring what a biography is and looking at non-fiction texts. We also get to use our knowledge from our previous Space topic to help with our writing. Within our English lessons, we will be exploring: parenthesis, further developing our ability to link paragraphs, formal language and writing for the intent to inform and engage.

In Science, we will be looking at how we can work scientifically. We will also be entering the 3M Young Innovators Project. This will see us design and create a project before looking at the science behind our ideas and entering it into a national competition.

Within our Geography lessons, we going to be looking at World Trade and where Britain fits into the World when it comes to importing and exporting products. Throughout this theme, we will also be looking at Fair Trade, countries that have high GDP (and why) and Brexit.

Our RE question to investigate this half term is, 'What did Jesus do to save human beings?’ We will be looking at the sacrifices made by Jesus and also how his generosity to mankind still impact us today through charity organisations and church supported hospitals and clinics.
