Year R Spring 2 2022: Food Glorious Food

This half term we will be learning about food, growing plants, Spring and the Easter story.

We will be learning:

In Phonics we will be learning new sounds, red words and practising blending. Any new sounds or red words we learn will be sent home in your child's bookbag. We will be using Fred talk to help us to read new words and Fred fingers to help us to spell.


In Maths we are learning number bonds to 5 and 10. We are then using part-whole models and ten frames to help us to add and subtract. Our final unit in Maths is exploring pattern and seeing what different patterns we can make.


In our Theme lessons we are learning about where our food comes from. This will include learning about what a farmer's job is, what plants need to grow, healthy eating, where in the world different fruits and vegetables grow and what food people like to eat in different countries around the world.


Our Christian value this half term is forgiveness. In RE we will also be learning about the Easter story and why it is important to Christians.
