How does the East Midlands compare the North-West America?
Curriculum Coverage:
In Maths we will be continuing to look at Decimals, which we started the last half-term. This time we will be looking at multiplying and dividing by powers of 10 as well as a multiplying and dividing by integers and by each other. Also, we will be focusing on percentages - how these link to fractions and decimals and working out percentages of amounts.
In English, we are going to be starting with a poetry focus for the first couple of weeks. We are going to be exploring the Poem, the Jabberwocky by Lewis Carroll; how he uses nonsense words within his work and then creating our poem based on his style. After that, we will be exploring the book Manfish: A story of Jacques Cousteau, a biographic text about his life as an oceanographer.
In Science, we are looking at the unit: Animals, including Humans, with a focus on the circulatory system and how diet and exercise affect the human body.
Within our Geography lessons, we travel to North-West America to investigate the Geology and compare it to our local region, the East Midlands. We will be paying particular focus on land use, economy and tourism.
RE sees us continuing to look at, 'What matters most to Christians and Humanists?' We will be looking at the rules around Christianity and Humanism, what codes each live by and the idea of peace being the most valuable thing.
