Welcome to Year 5

Welcome to Year 5!
I'm really looking forward to an fantastic new year with your children.
We will have PE twice a week and the usual days will be published in your child's partnership book at the start of term.  However, please make sure your child's kit is always in school as sometimes our timetable can change due to the weather or other events happening in school.
In year 5, children take responsibility for changing their own reading and library books when they need to.  Children in year 5 are expected to read at least 3 times a week at home and they may record their own reading in their partnership book this year.  Please listen to you child read once a week and discuss the independent reading they have been doing - please sign their book whenever you do this.  Above all, please encourage them to read as frequently and regularly as possible - they may even be able to earn a free day out for the family!
Homework expectations are that children in year 5 will read, practice times tables and complete 1 item from the homework menu each week.  This should be handed in on a Monday morning.
Please see the attached curriculum overview to find out all the exciting things we will be learning about this half term and I have also attached a copy of the homework menu that the children will bring home.
Wishing you a happy half term,
Mr Bacon
