JUNE NEWSLETTER

Dear Parents/Carers,

It is nearing the end of another busy year for St Paul’s!

SPORTS DAY

Sports day was a great success and the winners really enjoyed receiving their medals. We are proud of all of the children and their great team spirit.

CLARINET

Y4 have been learning to play the clarinet all year and were joined by Y5 & Y6 clarinet players to perform for their parents. It was wonderful to see how much they had progressed in a relatively short time.

This wonderful opportunity continues next year for our new Y4 pupils.

Congratulations go to Freddie, James, Ben, Ella, Esme, Bonnie, Olivia and Lawrence who successfully passed their respective exams.

YEAR 2 TRIP TO WARWICK CASTLE

Year 2 spent a wonderful day discovering all about Castle life at Warwick. Thank you to all the parents who helped and braced the many steps that were climbed!

NATIONAL MY MONEY WEEK

Once again our children took part in an Enterprise Challenge based around an understanding of money and economic wellbeing. The children were entrepreneurs for the day and were exceptionally well behaved and responsible. They had a great time which you can soon share by looking at the website school news.

All the events were run by the children for the children. They were amazing. Thanks to your support the children managed to raise a total of £575.15 from a stake of £1 each child.

YEAR 6 CYCLING PROFICIENCY

Our Year 6 children have successfully completed their cycling proficiency course, so well done to them. They will receive their badges and certificates soon and should be proud of their achievements.

BOOK AMNESTY

Please check book bags, cupboards, shelves and under beds and return any school reading books and library books before the end of term. This especially applies to Y6 before they head off into the sunset! Please don’t worry if you find any over the summer – they will be received with a smile!

UNIVERSAL INFANT FREE SCHOOL MEAL

4+ & KS1 children will continue to receive a Universal Infant Free School Meal. However, if you are entitled to receive free school meals regardless of the Universal free school meal system you will still need to apply to Leicestershire County Council. This is VERY important because additional money is received into school for your child if they are entitled to FSM. Please contact school if you are not sure if this applies to you and we will help.

Children entering Year 3 at the end of August will have to pay for their school lunches. Look out for the letter from the office setting out details for payment.

PARENT GOVERNORS

We will have two new parent governor vacancies in October next academic year. I will be writing to you about this in the Autumn term but thought you might like to have a think about it over the Summer. The current Governors will be publishing a newsletter before the summer holidays to give you an insight into their work.

DATES FOR YOUR DIARY

18-19 Term Dates can be seen on our websites under the “Parent Info” tab and called “Academic Year 18-19 Dates”. You will see that the children return on WEDNESDAY 29th AUGUST 2018.

Please also look at the website diary towards the end of August to see key dates for events next year.
