APRIL NEWSLETTER

Dear Parents

Welcome to the April Newsletter and hopefully an end to all the rain.

ST GEORGE’S DAY FOCUS

We celebrated St George’s Day by looking at what it means to be English and what English culture actually means and finding out about who St George actually was. We also enjoyed a St George’s day themed lunch.

INTER-SCHOOL SPORTING EVENTS

Some children in Years 3 to 6 attended a Quicksticks Hockey event and some children in Year 5 & 6 attended a Mini Tennis tournament. Please see our Sports pages on our website for how they did!

NFER TESTING

Year 6 showed their indominatable spirits whilst preparing for SATs, they were selected by the Department for Education to trail new NFER Maths tests. They were amazing.

3M STEM CHALLENGE JUDGING

We are very proud of our entrants in the 3M Young Innovators Challenge event. During STEM Challenge week, they worked together to solve a variety of STEM based challenges and were selected to attend this highly prestigious judging event at the new 3M premises in Loughborough. They all had to present their projects to a panel of judges who asked them some very challenging STEM based questions. The children were judged on their scientific understanding, presentation skills and final product and were all amazing!

Unfortunately, none of the entrants this year made it to the winners’ presentation evening but they will all receive a 2018 3M Young Innovators Challenge certificate and a Crest Discovery Award.
