January Newsletter

Dear Parents and Carers

WELCOME TO THE JANUARY NEWSLETTER

The Spring 1 half term has flown past and we are now half-way through the academic year.

WELCOME CHILDREN

We warmly welcome Anais Georget, Brooke Snape and George Morris-Stych (all 4+).  We are sure they will be very happy and successful here at St Paul’s.

STAFF NEWS

A warm welcome to Mrs Jordan, who has joined us in Year 6 to work alongside Mrs Halsall, Mrs Blackwell and Mrs Kay. Mrs Jordan will also take PPA cover for staff when Mrs Wilkinson starts her maternity leave at the end of February.

ASSESSMENTS

Assessment week went well and pupil’s midyear progress and attainment is being carefully analysed by class teachers and the senior management team. The results of this analysis will inform decisions on intervention and support for individuals and groups. Your child’s progress would have been discussed with you at the recent Parents’ Evenings.

TRIPS AND VISITS

Year 2 enjoyed a trip to the Birmingham Think Tank Science Museum to round off their ‘Machines’ topic at the end of last term and Year 5 enjoyed a Robot Workshop here at school.

ST PAUL’S DAY

On Wednesday 25th January children had a focus lesson looking at the life of St Paul and learning more about our special Saint. Reverend Lisa celebrated this special day for our school with a whole school assembly.

TU BISHVAT

The children enjoyed a Collective Worship looking at the Jewish festival of Tu Bishvat and re-examined their own respect and responsibility for our environment and especially our plants and trees.

PTA WINTER FETE

The money has been counted and all the bills paid, leaving a whopping £1419.74 profit. This was up 3% from last year and will go a long way to support our project to improve and utilise the school garden.  More importantly, the event was enjoyed by everyone and was a lovely start to the season.

Huge thanks as ever to the PTA and especially Dee Disley who was the executive lead for this event.
