Year 1 Trip to the Synagogue

In RE this half term, the children have been learning about what makes places sacred. We have been focusing on Christianity and Judaism and comparing the Church to the Synagogue. Last week, the children were very lucky to visit a Synagogue in Leicester. We learnt all about the Synagogue and the traditions of the Jewish people. The children were able to explore many different artefacts and objects that are important to Jewish people. The boys were required to wear a ‘kippa’ out of respect and we were extremely excited to get a glimpse of some very beautiful Torah scrolls.
