Rt. Hon Nick Gibb's Letter to St. Pauls

Autumn 2 Newsletter

Autumn second half term

It is the start of a very exciting half term! Our new topic is based on the novel Holes by Louis Sachar. We will be focusing our studies on America and Texas in particular. The children will be writing formal letters and creating interesting non-chronological reports based on an area of the topic that interests them.  The children will have the chance to take part in a line dancing workshop – we hope to be able to perform at our forthcoming class assembly which has now moved to 15th November to accommodate this!

In our topic lessons we will be comparing the geography and history of Texas and the UK. We will do some research on the area and compare customs and traditions and discuss how these evolve.

PE this term is Basketball so the children must have their outdoor PE kit in school as well as their indoor things. Our PE days will be Monday and Thursday but these may change so please make sure PE kit is in school all the time. For safety reasons, we follow the ‘NO jewellery’ policy for PE so please can I ask that children with pierced ears do not wear earrings to school on PE days. Children who do wear earrings to school will be asked to remove them before taking part in the lesson.

Please also remember that we are now into the half term when our Christmas production takes place and so your child may be coming home with words or a song to learn. Please help them with this so we can have the best performance possible.

Thanks for your continued support!
