Children may bring wellies or snowboots to change into at breaks - make sure they are named. 4+ have their own school wellies to change into.

Welcome to Year Four!

Welcome to Year Four!

I hope you have all had a lovely summer and ready for an exciting year ahead! I’m really looking forward to making this a successful year filled with valuable experiences that will support your children’s overall learning. Learning will excel from the teaching by myself, Mrs Wilkinson on Tuesday afternoons and Mrs Kay on Wednesday afternoons.

To start off the academic year, our exciting topic is the Anglo-Saxons and the Vikings which will include learning about the Norman Conquest! Later on within this half term, we will be having a fun packed Viking Day which we are very excited about! Please read the attached curriculum overview to find out more about what we will be learning in each taught subject.

In English, our Writing Leaps and Ladders focus on punctuation. Our Reading Leaps and Ladders focus on retrieving. In Maths, our Leaps and Ladders focus on number and place value. Learning Leaps will be published in your children’s partnership book on Monday 4th September.

As regards to Homework, work will be given out on Friday to be handed back in on following Friday.

We will have P.E on Mondays and Fridays but please make sure your child's kit is in school at all times.

Children will also be learning Clarinet which will take place on Monday afternoons.

I hope we can work together to make this a progressive and positive year for your children. So please feel free to come and chat to me before 9am and after school. However, please be mindful that at 9am I will need to take the children into the classroom and on Tuesday evenings it is our weekly staff meeting.

Wishing you a lovely half term,

Miss Burke
