END OF YEAR NEWSLETTER

 

Dear Parents/Carers,

Welcome to the last newsletter of this academic year.

 

NEW CHILDREN

We warmly welcome a few new children who have come to us from afar! They are Tommy Cropp (Year 1), Henry Pearce (Year 1) and Toby Pearce (Year 5). They have had a few weeks to settle in and make new friends before the summer break and will be ready to go in the Autumn Term.

 

ST PAUL’S END OF YEAR RESULTS

This year's tests were VERY demanding and were based on the new curriculum. The Department for Education statistics show that NATIONALLY:

  • Nationally 71% of pupils met the standard in reading
  • Nationally 75% in maths
  • Nationally 77% in grammar, punctuation and spelling
  • Nationally 76% in writing

ST PAUL’S HAS DONE IT AGAIN!

  • 100% of our pupils met the standard in writing
  • 86% of our pupils met the standard in reading
  • 95% of our pupils met the standard in maths
  • 95% of our pupils met the standard in grammar, punctuation and spelling
  •  

Year 2 also did us proud with the following results

  • 94% of our pupils met the standard in reading
  • 94% in maths
  • 88% in writing
  •  

Our very youngest pupils are also assessed and have made impressive progress in 4+

  • 91% of our pupils met the standard in reading
  • 91% in numbers
  • 88% in writing

Lastly our year 1 pupils all undertook the National Phonic Screen Assessment with a staggering 100% meeting the expected standard and many significantly exceeding it!

Congratulations to all of our children and a huge thank you to the staff at St Paul’s and of course to our parents for all the support we know you give to your children.

 

TRANSITION

The children each spent two days in their new classes last week after some initial practice in June. Our new 4+ children enjoyed two great sessions with us, including lunch with their parents. We are really looking forward to them starting at the end of August.

 

SUMMER BBQ

The summer BBQ was a huge success despite the rain! We had a huge crowd and a fabulous time.

The money raised will go towards extras for your children. Thank you to everyone who helped and everyone who came to enjoy the evening.

 

LEAVERS’ ASSEMBLY

We had a lovely leavers’ assembly for our Y6 pupils.

We shall miss ALL of them and wish them lots of love and luck in the future.

A special Goodbye to – Millie Bale, Lilly Bhatia-Leader, Bella Breed, Edith Derry, Nicole Dockray, Harvey Fletcher, Rose Graham, Oliver Hawkins, William Knight, Tallulah Mardel-Ferreira, Dalton Preston, Gemma Rose, Ella Ross, Lily Ross, Arran Rowley, Elias Rusby, Freddie Sharpe, Joshua Simpson, Sam Skevington-Jones, Poppy Smalley, Oliver Thompson and Jack Whitmore.

 

STAFF NEWS

We wish Miss Nagington all the very best of luck in new her life and thank her once again for her outstanding contribution to the school.

We also say goodbye and good luck temporarily to Mrs Rivers who will be starting her maternity leave over the summer.

Our very best wishes also go to Miss Joslin for a lovely wedding day. She will return to us as Mrs Lavin.

 

SCHOOL UNIFORM

Below is a reminder of the school uniform for St Paul’s, which is available from Rosebuddies at Loughborough market or on-line (see the school website). Uniform is also available from TESCO on www.tesco.com/ues

  • Blue sweatshirt/cardigan with school logo
  • Blue polo shirt with school logo
  • Grey school skirt/pinafore/trousers/school shorts
  • Sensible, black school shoes (No stripes or logos) with white/grey/black socks
  • Sunhat in the summer (these can be purchased from the office)
  • In addition girls may wear black tights in the winter and blue gingham dresses in the summer
  • A school fleece or outdoor coat in the winter
  • Book-bag (which should be purchased from the office) or ruck sack for Y5/6 which can only be purchased from Rosebuddies.

CHILDREN ARE NOT PERMITTED OTHER RUCKSACKS OR OTHER BAGS FOR THE CLASSROOM

 

PE Kit:

  • Plain black shorts and plain white t-shirt
  • Black Plimsolls
  • Children may wear a black hoody and jogger bottoms (no logos) for when the weather is cold. Also available from Rosebuddies. KS2 children may wear trainers for outdoor games.

Remember jewellery is not permitted (except a sleeper stud or ring in pierced ears but NOT on PE days) only sensible hairstyles and sensible hair accessories in school colours.

Please find attached the results for our Parental Questionnaire 2016/17. We are delighted with your feedback and will analyse your comments over the summer in order to action plan any school improvement and feedback to you in more detail.

This means that you will need to regularly check the website. Key dates are also in the partnership book.
