June Newsletter

Dear Parents/Carers,

It is nearing the end of another busy year for St Paul’s!

Sports day was a great success and the winners really enjoyed receiving their medals. We are proud of all of the children and their great team spirit.

Take a look at the website (Sports tab) where you will soon see lots of action photos as well as all of our medal winners.

Y4 have been learning to play the clarinet all year and were joined by Y5 & Y6 clarinet players to perform for their parents. It was wonderful to see how much they had progressed in a relatively short time.

This wonderful opportunity continues next year for our new Y4 pupils.

Congratulations go to Jack Whitmore, Josh Simpson, Ben Scott, Ella Sault, Freddie Allen and Jessica Searancke who successfully passed their exams for either Copper, Bronze or Silver medals.

It’s all been happening at St Paul’s this half term!

4+ had a visit from a Victorian Seaside Theatre Group and are enjoying their seaside day today!

Yr 1 had a walk up to the Post Office in the village

Yr 2 had an amazing trip to Warwick Castle

Yr 3 visited the Mandir Centre

Yr 4 had the Enviro-Detectives visit then

Yr 6 went to Twycross Zoo as a post-SATS treat

Please check the website for some fantastic photos.

Once again our children took part in an Enterprise Challenge based around an understanding of money and economic wellbeing. The children were entrepreneurs for the day and were exceptionally well behaved and responsible. They had a great time which you can soon share by looking at the website school news.

All the events were run by the children for the children. They were amazing. Thanks to your support the children managed to raise a total of £609.33 from a stake of £1 each child. Year 4 raised the most amount of money, so a big well done to them.

Please check book bags, cupboards, shelves and under beds and return any school reading books and library books before the end of term. This especially applies to Y6 before they head off into the sunset! Please don’t worry if you find any over the summer – they will be received with a smile!

4+ & KS1 children will continue to receive a Universal Infant Free School Meal. However, if you are entitled to receive free school meals regardless of the Universal free school meal system you will still need to apply to Leicestershire County Council. This is VERY important because additional money is received into school for your child if they are entitled to FSM.  Please contact school if you are not sure if this applies to you and we will help.

17-18 Term Dates can be seen on our websites under the “Parent Info” tab and called “Academic Year 17-18 Dates”. You will see that the children return on TUESDAY 29th AUGUST 2017.

Please also look at the website diary towards the end of August to see key dates for events next year.

Please note that Rawlins Academy have just confirmed the date for their October break in 2018. It is week commencing 22nd October 2018 and we shall be consulting with you about requesting the same pattern.
