Year 6 Summer Term Newsletter

Welcome to the Summer Term!

We can’t believe that it is already the summer term.  After months of hard work, the SATs have been and gone.  We are so proud of how the children did; they approached the tests with a very mature attitude and showed a focus that demonstrated their desire to do their very best.

In the first half of this term we are studying rainforests.  We will look at the different levels within the rainforest and which types of animals in each section.  We will consider how much the rainforest provides for us and what we can do to protect it.

In the second half of this term we will be looking into the world of work.  We will be having a jobs fair for the children, allowing them the opportunity to think about what career they may wish to pursue in the future.  If any of you has a profession that you think would interest the children, and you would be happy to come and talk them about it, please let either Mrs Halsall or Mrs Blackwell know.

There are many other events coming up over the next few weeks including sports day, Enterprise week, children’s topic week and transition days.  Please make sure that you check the diary section on the website for the dates of all of these events.

Leaps Block 5:

Reading: Reviewing texts

Writing: Composition and Effect

Maths: Measures

Leaps Block 6:

Reading: Viewpoint

Writing: Reviewing all previous leaps

Maths: Reviewing all previous leaps

Make sure that you check your child’s partnership books or their individual leaps and their assessed leaps.

As the weather, hopefully, gets warmer it is vitally important that your child brings their water bottle to school in order to stay hydrated.

The days that our PE lessons will take place over this term will vary depending on the weather so it is very important that children have their PE in school every day.

Kind regards

Mrs Halsall and Mrs Blackwell
