Children may bring wellies or snowboots to change into at breaks - make sure they are named. 4+ have their own school wellies to change into.

April Newsletter

Dear Parents

Welcome to the April Newsletter and to the Summer Term already!

NEW PARENT GOVERNOR

We are pleased to announce that the successful candidate at the recent Parent Governor election was Professor Youdell. We very much look forward to working with her. Thank you to everybody who took the time to return their ballot paper.

YEAR 4 RESIDENTIAL TRIP TO DUKES BARN

Our trail blazer trip to the Chatsworth Estate was a huge success and will now form part of our annual arrangements. Take a look at the fabulous photos on the website, particularly if your child is in Year 3.

EASTER CHURCH SERVICE

Each class prepared a dramatic piece to tell a special part of the Easter Story. This resulted in a moving and powerful Easter Service. Photos were left in the Church so that the community could see how important the Easter message is to St Paul’s.

NEW PLAYGROUND CANOPY

We hope you like our fabulous canopy, not only does it look wonderful, but it fulfils three important functions.

  • A lovely sheltered space for Yr 1 & Yr 2 children to access provision outside of the classroom whatever the weather.
  • The pretty canopy is also sunsafe, protecting children from harmful UV rays in the Summer. It allows for safe shelter for all of our children on hot sunny days. (Lets hope there will be many!)
  • A lovely shelter for parents from the pouring rain or beating sun on pick up and drop off.

ST GEORGE’S DAY FOCUS

We celebrated St George’s Day by looking at what it means to be English and what English culture actually means. We all shared the story of St George and the Dragon and discussed if it was fact or fiction. What do you think?

GROUP PHOTOS

Whole class photos have been taken and proofs will be sent to you, as soon as we receive them, for you to purchase. They will hopefully make a lovely memory of 2016/17 for your child.

YEAR 6 SATS

As May arrives it brings with it the KS2 assessments (SATs) which is a really busy time for schools but particularly Y6 pupils and their teachers.

PLEASE ENSURE THAT YOUR Y6 CHILD IS IN SCHOOL EVERY DAY DURING THE WEEK BEGINNING MAY 8TH 2017

There is still some time for final revision during this week and for preparing your child to be confident in their own abilities and to know that they can only do their best.

The classroom will be open a bit earlier for the children to meet, have a snack and relax before the tests begin each day. Look out for details from Mrs Halsall or Mrs Blackwell.

Once again, we are very proud of this year’s Year 6 and wish them lots of luck.
