Year 3 Trip to Beacon Hill May 2017

Year 3 had an amazing time at Beacon Hill last week!  When we first got there, we had a well-deserved drink and then had lots of fun exploring the rhododendron labyrinth. After a quick break, we made our way over to The Native Tree collection where we gathered lots of interesting information and facts about the trees that are native to The United Kingdom. It was hungry work so we made our way over to the picnic area to eat our packed lunches. Feeling revitalised, we went into the woods and built some fantastic shelters. We all worked exceptionally well in our teams and were very proud of our results. We then climbed further up the hill to see the animals which graze there and were lucky enough to walk very close to The English Longhorn cattle which play a very important role in encouraging the growth of the heathland. We also saw the alpacas which are there to protect the sheep from dog attacks. Along the way, we saw lots of interesting chainsaw sculptures including Axe Man and Rock Face! By now we were exhausted so we made our weary way back to school. We can't wait to write our persuasive leaflets about Beacon Hill!
