STEM Challenge Week

What a fantastic STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) week we have had.  We were set the challenge to design, cost, build and test a boat that could float and hold weight.

We started our research by conducting a sinking and floating test, then we made prototype boats from paper, foil and lego.  We tested these in many ways.  We designed our boats choosing waterproof and light items carefully from a materials list.  We then had to buy our materials with only a £1 budget!  We made them carefully with a partner and tested them with and without weights.  The most successful boat held 41 marbles!

We were also lucky enough to have a DRONE Day session.  We had to programme, using an algorithm, a Drone so that it would fly, flip and land!
