January Newsletter

Dear Parents and Carers

WELCOME TO THE JANUARY NEWSLETTER

Looks like Spring may be upon us soon without any of the white stuff. Hopefully I haven’t spoken too soon!

WELCOME CHILDREN

We warmly welcome Sofia Davidenkoff (4+) and Martin Davidenkoff (Yr 2) to our school.  We are sure they will be very happy and successful here at St Paul’s.

WELCOME STAFF

Mr Doore has now officially joined the team as our new Premises Officer. I’m sure you will make him feel welcome if you see him out and about.

SAINSBURY’S ACTIVE KIDS VOUCHERS

We will be collecting the Sainsbury’s vouchers again this year to receive sports equipment for the school. The vouchers should now be in their shops up until July.

Please send any vouchers that you have in with your child so that they can post them in the collection box installed at school.

EXTENDED SCHOOL BOOKINGS/CANCELLATIONS

This is a reminder that all messages regarding Gigantic Bowl of Cereal or Planet Play bookings or cancellations can be left as a message on the answer machine by choosing Option 2. The Extended Services staff check the messages regularly throughout the day.  Please do not send messages via the office, catch staff on the playground or use the Partnership Book for these bookings or cancellations.    Due to the popularity of the service, we remind parents that there are deadlines for making these bookings/cancellations:-

Gigantic Bowl of Cereal – by 5.30pm the evening before the session required

Planet Play – by 9am on the day the session is required

This is especially important for cancellations as you will be charged for the session if not cancelled by the deadlines.

Parents who have long term bookings need to remember to cancel any sessions that are not required by the deadlines stated above.

ASSESSMENTS

Assessment week went well and pupil’s midyear progress and attainment is being carefully analysed by class teachers and the senior management team. The results of this analysis will inform decisions on intervention and support for individuals and groups. Your child’s progress will be discussed at Parent’s Evening.

TRIPS AND VISITS

Year 3 enjoyed a theatre visit to tie in with their Horrible History topic. They were transported from the Stone Age to the Roman times with a fantastic and fun interactive production.  They have produced some fantastic writing as a result which they are all very proud of.

Year 5 enjoyed a Robot Workshop using programming and coding and creating real robots to control. They built their robots and used their laptops to manoeuvre them around the school hall!

ST PAUL’S DAY

On Wednesday 25th January children had a focus lesson looking at the life of St Paul and learning more about our special Saint.
