DECEMBER NEWSLETTER

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome to our final newsletter of the term and of 2016.

We hope you enjoyed our fantastic Christmas performances – well done children!

STAFF NEWS

Mr Bailey

Sad farewells are given to those who are extremely prized and special – you are such a person and we will all miss you. Good Luck in your new school.

Mr Clay

Goodbye and a big thank you to Mr Clay who has temporarily looked after our school this term.

Mrs Kay

Mrs Kay will be back in Year 3 for the Spring and Summer Terms. We are delighted to have Mrs Kay back with us full time!

Mr Doore

Mr Doore joins us in January as our new Premises Officer. We would like to offer him a very warm welcome to the team!

WINTER FETE

We are pleased to announce that the PTA managed to raise £1377.28 at the Winter Fete in November. A big thank you to everyone that made it possible.

CHRISTMAS PANTOMIME

The children had a great time seeing Cinderella at Loughborough Town Hall. Once again it was lovely to see the children and staff heading off for a whole school Christmas event together. Their smiling and laughing faces were a joy to behold.

ARTSPACE COMPETITION WINNERS

Anna Michalska came into School to print t-shirts for our Artspace Competition winners (Daisy Gray and Gracie Tomajer- Year 2 and Oliver Thompson – Year 6). They should be proud of their artistic endeavors. Well done!

PARTIES

All the children enjoyed games, food and festive fun at their parties. Thanks for all the generous food contributions. Thanks also go to Mr & Mrs Moore of The Curzon Arms who supplied the parties with Christmas crackers.

Santa came to visit once again and made it a very special afternoon - Thank you Santa!

ST PAUL’S CHURCH

Our Christmas Carol Service was hosted by Reverend Lisa Temperley-Barnes and was a beautiful end to the festivities and a perfect preparation for Christmas.

CHRISTMAS DINNER

Lots and lots of our children and staff enjoyed a lovely Christmas dinner on Wednesday. There was festive music, table decorations and staff in festive hats.

Mrs. Wilshaw, our cook, and her staff, did us all proud. The arrangements ran like clockwork. Many thanks also go to Mrs Green and her team.

OUR YOUNGEST PUPILS SINGING AT THE BAPTIST CHURCH CHRISTMAS LUNCH

Our 4+ children attended the Woodhouse Eaves Baptist Church to sing Christmas carols for the retired residents after their Christmas lunch at the Baptist Church. They love to hear the children sing and it rounds their Christmas lunch off perfectly. This year they particularly enjoyed seeing our little ones perform.

SNOW

I am re-issuing the reminder from last month’s newsletter. Please be assured that school will stay open whenever possible.

In the first instance, check our website regularly to see if we are open. This will be very clear on the scrolling banner on the front page.

Please also listen to announcements on BBC Radio Leicester (104.9FM) or check their website http://news.bbc.co.uk/local/leicester/hi/ to check for a possible school closure.

PLEASE DO NOT RING SCHOOL directly as staff will not be available to take your call.

No website announcement and no BBC Radio Leicester announcement means school will be open as normal.

DATES FOR YOUR DIARY

Just to remind you that all of our dates for the year are on the website.

www.st-pauls.leics.sch.uk Click on the Parent Info tab and then on Calendar.

and finally ……

On behalf of the staff and myself, thank you for all of your kind gifts and cards.

They are all greatly appreciated.   Those of you who once again sent ‘goodies’ to the staffroom really helped to keep us all going!

Happy New Year and look forward to seeing you all back on Wednesday 4th January 2017.

Yours sincerely
