France 2016 - Day 4

Abbeville, le volley et petanque!

It feels like only yesterday that we set off in the dark but it is day 4 already!

We set off a little earlier today for a trip to the local market town of Abbeville. This was a great opportunity to see the fresh vegetables, huge cheeses and wide variety of fish and meats on offer. We saw stalls selling: snails, prawns, olives, melons, honey and a wide variety of interesting food.

After a good look round we then found some stalls selling great clothes, make up and bonbons! We all used more French to find out how much things cost and to spend some of our Euros.

When we got back to the chateau, we had lunch (including another crepe) and packed up our cases ready for an early start tomorrow.

Our afternoon activities were volleyball and petanque played in the grounds of the chateaux - a very picturesque setting next to the lake!

Our dinner tonight included the opportunity to try snails and frogs legs - well dome to everyone who tried some.  The general consensus was that frogs legs do indeed taste a lot like chicken.

The final activity of our busy day was a campfire where we heard stories and toasted marshmallows.

A bientot!
