France 2016 - Day 1

The St Paul's 2016 France trip is underway!

After an extremely early start, we met up in the dark ready for our French adventure.  Graham, our friendly driver, welcomed us as we boarded our executive coach and set off in style.  We had our breakfast on the road and watched as the sun rose over the misty hills.  Despite some early slow traffic, we made good time and soon crossed the Thames.  After a quick pit-stop, we soon caught our first sight of the sea.  Luckily, there were no queues at all and we went straight onto the ferry.

We found a very comfortable spot to eat our lunch as we watched the white cliffs of Dover slipping away.  The sea was very calm and after a quick walk up on deck we were off again - this time on the other side of the road!

Before long, we arrived at the Château du Brutel.  Encouraging and cheerful, the staff showed us around and we all settled into our rooms. We explored the grounds, played some football and had a delicious meal - some of us practised our first few words in French as we said thank you to our French chefs!

We are now settling down for a good night's sleep and are looking forward to the fun week ahead.
