Gurdwara Visit

Year Two have been learning about Sikhism this half term. We visited a gurdwara in leicester to support and enhance our RE topic. When we arrived we had to take off our shoes, wash our hands and cover our heads. We sat and watched quietly in the prayer hall and we tasted offerings made of sugar, flour and water. We looked at models of Gurdwaras that exist in India and gazed at paintings of the Gurus. We saw where the holy book ( Guru Granth Sahib) is put to bed each night. Finally we went into the langar (kitchen) where we were given some delicious trays of food to taste. The children asked our guide some interesting questions and enjoyed learning about the five K's of Sikhism.
