France - Day 3 Rue tour

This morning we had a slightly later breakfast so we were able to have a little lie-in. Our first activity was a guided tour of the town of Rue. We learnt about the history of the chateau and were surprised to find out that it was occupied by the Nazis during the war. We walked into the town and along the way stopped to look at several interesting buildings. We gazed at the beautiful gothic architecture of the town’s church and heard stories about Joan of Arc and Saint Sebastian.  We went into a museum to find out about the Caudron brothers who were raised in the town: they were the French version of the Wright brothers and were pioneers of flight.   We finished our walk by ordering a hot chocolate in the café.  The children had the opportunity to order in French and pay in Euros. Lots of them opted to have cream on their drink!
