We ran elections in School for various pupil groups to coincide with the General Election. This helped our pupils to have a more active voice in School and to have a greater understanding of Democracy.
We ran these elections in a similar way to the real election which gave the children a better understanding of the General Election.
All voters had to register. There was a formal notice of election and candidate nomination forms. Children also received polling cards and ballot papers.
The elections took place on 7th May and nomination forms were returned by 24th April.
Candidates were also allowed to actively campaign during the week 27th April to 1st May.
The Pupil Groups elected are as follows:-

These children will support Healthy Eating in school, be involved in our Healthy Schools activities, be consulted about school lunches, tuck shops, the school garden etc and supporting Food for Life Partnership. This Group is open to all pupils.
