SCHOOL GATES 12/09/2011
In spite of many reminders in newsletters etc some parents still persist in using the main entrance and staff car park to pick up their children from after school activity clubs. This presents a danger to the children leaving due to parents entering the car park and reversing into the path of children leaving the clubs. Only individual parents picking up their children from Planet Play are permitted to use the main entrance. As a consequence of this, the school has no alternative but to lock the gates until 4.45pm. This will cause unnecessary inconvenience for staff leaving the premises and parents picking up from Planet Play, but the safety of the children is paramount. Parents picking up from Planet Play before 4.45pm, when the gates will be locked, should ring the school on arrival and a member of staff will let you in. Please also note that parents and children are not permitted to climb over the gates.

Enterprise Day 12/09/2011
At the end of last term our children once again took part in an Enterprise Challenge based around an understanding of money and economic well being in support of the Government's "My Money week" and the Every Child Matters Agenda. 4+ sold ice cream and handled real money in their role play shop. Y1 held the tried and tested penalty shoot out. Y2 made and served jelly and squirty cream, held a bric-a-brac sale and a raffle! Y3 designed and ran super hero games and Y4 made and sold designer jewellery made from recycled materials. Cupcake wars was the genius idea from Y5 with the "Boys in Suits" competing with girls in the "Snack Shack." They sold out in record time! Year 6 held a very popular (actually it was the prize that was popular!) "Dodge Ball" event. All these events were ran by the children for the children. They were amazing and raised the following amounts:- 4+ £88.50 Year 1 £50.15 Year 2 £54.61 Year 3 £68.34 Year 4 £51.98 Year 5 £121.72 Year 6 £51.16 Total £486.46 WELL DONE CHILDREN

Forgotton Lunch boxes / PE Kits 12/09/2011
Some children seem to be regularly forgetting their packed lunches and PE kits and these are kindly being brought into the office by parents and carers to be passed to the children throughout the day. Due to the increasing number of such items being brought into the school, the office staff are spending a lot of time reuniting the children with these items. Please encourage your child to remember their belongings and lunches each morning. From September, there will be a box in the office for forgotten items brought in after the school day has started to be deposited and the children will be able to collect PE kit and lunch boxes from the office when it is apparent to the teachers/children that they have forgotten these items. Office staff will no longer be available to receive or distribute forgotten items.
